Our
Lodge has the privilege of be located at the front of the same
Pacaya Samiria
National Reserve,
in the buffer zone of this natural paradise which lodges a great biological and
cultural richness, where its people effort is reflected in the conservation of
its resources through useful plans that allow to protect the ecosystem of this
floodish tropical forest and so make life possible to all the species that live
in this part of the Peruvian Amazon Region.
Pacaya
Samiria Amazon Lodge
works in addition to the conservation effort by its
tourist programs, offering its visitors the opportunity to know, participate
and learn about the kindness of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve and the
correct use of its resources that allow us to guarantee their existence in the
future, this is possible through its people when visiting the local communities.
These people got the recovery of species as the “Taricaya” (Podocnemis unifilis)
– Amazonian turtle, palm species like “Aguaje” (Mauritia flexuosa), “Yarina” (Phytelephas
macrocarp) and “Huasaí” (Euterpe precatoria) and hydrobiological resources as
the “Paiche” (Arapaima gigas) and “Arahuana” (Osteoglossum bicirrhosum), through
handling plans that allow its trading and bring economic resources, also helping
to reduce the forbidden woodcutting and hunting of these resources.
In addition, we contribute to rescue the local culture by its handicraft,
promoting the use of natural materials by a conservation plan as the case of the
Chambira, very resistant vegetal fiber which belongs from a palm that the
Amazonian families have used it in many ways since many years ago. This
handicraft has been developed in San Jorge community, where the Women Handicraft
Association has been created, these ladies receive the support of Pacaya Samiria
Amazon Lodge with qualifications in order to develop this artisan activity and
get a quality product, the same that is offered to be purchased or admired by
our Lodge visitors. This activity allows them to improve their families quality
of life by an extra economic income and the most important: to value more its
culture and be proud of their rich cultural past.
